Therapy Focus:

Susan sees individuals, couples, families, children, and adolescents.  She specializes in depression, anxiety, trauma, grief and loss, identity issues, self-esteem, substance abuse, spiritual issues, women’s issues, and marriage. Susan also has experience helping children and families with ADHD, conduct disorder, emotional regulation issues, social skills, parenting, and divorce. Upon request, Susan can integrate Christian counseling into therapy.

Counseling Approach:

Susan’s approach to therapy comes from the unique needs of her clients. She often uses Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Adlerian Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, and Gestalt Therapy.

In her work with couples, Susan has been trained in Levels I and II of Gottman Method Couples Therapy, Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy, and Safe Conversations. She is also certified in Prepare/Enrich, a tool which provides assessment and discussion for premarital couples as well as for couples desiring enrichment.

Background and Experience:

Susan received her Master’s in Professional Counseling at Dallas Theological Seminary in 2016, and worked with individuals, children and adolescents, families, and couples in private practice. Additionally, she worked at a psychiatric hospital on an adult inpatient unit where she worked with substance abuse issues and various mental diagnoses.

Susan also earned a Master’s in Christian Education from Dallas Theological Seminary in 2005, and led various educational and process groups in grief and loss, abuse, and spiritual formation. She also has experience in hospital chaplaincy and with helping men, women, and children in an agency setting and in various ministries within the church.

In her first career, she was a graphic artist working in print and Internet design, having received a BA in Art History from the University of Texas at Austin.

Susan is a Texas native and has lived in Frisco for 12 years. She enjoys the outdoors, good food, and time with her husband and three children.

Session Details:

Susan sees clients for $80 for individual sessions and $85 for couples and families.
She sees clients on Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Sunday afternoons.
